September 26 - OSU vs Illinois

Two years ago Illinois upset top-ranked Ohio State at Ohio Stadium...NOT THIS YEAR!!

Illinois was held to 170 total yards...88 passing and 82 rushing. Interceptions by Ohio State's Lawrence Wilson, Jermale Hines and Brian Rolle were highlights of the game. Brandon Saine rushed for 81 yards and "Boom" Herron had 75 yards.
Most of the game was played in a soaking rain... a torrential downpour, but Dave and Pete survived.

Even with the rain, hey...we had the opportunity to "Dot The I"....

Final Score: Ohio State 30 Illinois 0

September 19 - OSU vs. Toledo

For the Toledo game, Pete, Karen, Jeff, Gloria and Marion and I went to Cleveland to watch the Ohio State vs. Toledo game. We went up to Cleveland Friday night and then went to the block party and game on Saturday.

In the game Terrelle threw for 262 yards and ran for 110 yards. Ohio State had 522 total yards while Toledo was held to 210 total yards (only 13 yards rushing)

Here is a video sequence of a touchdown as we watched it from our end zone seats.

Final Score Ohio State 38 and Toledo 0

Nooooooo !!!!!

No!!! Not again !!!

Well, the Beerfest on Saturday afternoon, seeing Stacie and Nolan, meeting up with Lisa, finding Joel and the Danger Brothers, the deafening, electrifying atmosphere in the Shoe...all were fantastic....BUT...the result as Pete put it, "tore our hearts out". Joe said he "felt physically ill". The defense was awesome, but the offense let us down!

The OSU vs. USC game last night was everything we had expected...a record crowd of over 106,000 and an exhibition of what college football is all about!
The outcome however ...SUCKS!!!

Here is the opening kickoff to the Buckeyes...

Final Score USC 18 Buckeyes 15
(I'm feeling depressed again)

The Season Has Begun

This weekend Pete and I headed to Columbus for the Ohio State vs Navy game, the first game of the 09 season.

Not surprisingly it was another good weekend. We were a little out of synch as we stayed downtown (rather than at Hineygate / Holiday on Lane as we had for the last four years), obtained a new parking pass for a location where we had not parked before, and had some difficulty finding Lisa, our great "cigar lady" friend.

We managed to work around these few issues, and after finding Lisa and then meeting up with Pete's son, Jim and Jim's cousin Andrew from London, we saw an exciting game (that we had hoped wouldn't be that exciting!) and had a fun Saturday evening at a local Greek Festival.

Good time, Andrew!!! Hope you enjoyed the Buckeyes and our company.

Here we are at the Greek Festival...lamb and pastries... Life is good!!!

And Andrew wanted one final beer at Barley's.

The pre game opened with BOTH TEAMS entering "the Shoe" at the same time. This was Coach Tressel's way of showing respect to the Navy team. Do not believe this has ever occurred previously at an OSU football game.

Here is the football team, led by Coach Tressel, as they walk to St. Johns for the traditional "Skull Session".
