Jersey Scrimmage - April 12, 2008

Today Pete and I went to the Jersey Scrimmage at the Ohio State Stadium. Some 150 of us, due to our affiliation with coachtressel.com, were invited to attend this special scrimmage.
We learned that today's scrimmage was an idea initiated by Coach Tressel. The scrimmage pits the offense against the defense. A special scoring technique awards the offense points for TD's, 1st and 10's, plays over 20 yards and field goals. The defense obtains points for forcing a punt, recovering a fumble, interceptions, tackles for a loss, sacks and stopping a 4th down.
The winners of the scrimmage have the bragging rights and are permitted to wear the scarlet practice jerseys the remainder of the pre season.
Following the scrimmage, we went to Rooster's for wings, hot dogs and a salad, provided to us by coachtressel.com. We also had the opportunity there to meet and hear from 2002 quarterback Craig Krenzel and Dionte Johnson, last years fullback.
After having lunch and participating in a raffle of some OSU memorabilia, several players came in to Roosters for lunch.
The following pictures show how cordial these players were when Pete and I asked if we could take some pictures with them. A great group of guys!! We really appreciated their willingness to talk with us and to take the pictures. They truly represent the the Ohio State University in a very exemplary manner.

Here is the whole group of players as they take a minute to let us take their pictures ...

How about the size of these two players...Cameron Heyward 6'6", 287 lb. (DE) and Doug Worthington 6'6", 276 lb. (DT).

"Stories of the Shoe"

While Pete and I were at the Jersey Scrimmage at the stadium today, we met a gentleman by the name of Steve Davis. He shared with us that he is writing a book titled, Stories of the Shoe – Generations Remember Ohio Stadium. What a neat project. He explained to us how the project began and how he is going about gathering the information for his book. I would encourage you to visit his website at www.storiesoftheshoe.com (a link is here on the right)to learn more about his exciting project, or to submit some material for possible inclusion in the book.
Good luck Steve.
